My Course Diary
Start Assignment
Throughout the semester, you will complete a reflective diary for five (5) selected classes from the following list: Weeks 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9. The goal of this assignment is to encourage consistent and engaged reflection on both the course readings and in-class discussions. This is a way to document everyday learning throughout the course and help support other course projects.
For each of the five chosen classes, you need to submit notes following the template below:
- Date
- Texts read (from the syllabus)
- Key insights from the readings (100–150 words). This section is not a summary or synthesis of the readings. Instead, it should highlight which concepts resonated most with you personally and/or connections you see with empirical cases and real-world examples.
- Key insights from the class (200–250 words). This section should describe your main take-aways from the in-class discussions and activities. Reflect on how these interactions helped you interpret, question, or reframe the readings and the course topics. You should explicitly discuss insights gained from engaging with your peers, moments of disagreement or clarification, and how collective discussion influenced your thinking.
The notes should be written in a reflective and personal style, connecting readings and classroom discussions with your own perspectives, rather than repeating or summarizing material. It is highly recommended to write each note shortly after the corresponding class.
However, the full set of five notes must be submitted together as a single document by March 19.
In addition to the diary, all students must complete a short mandatory questionnaire about the use of generative AI in the production of the assignment, even if they did not use any generative AI. This questionnaire is available on Quercus.
Each of the five diary notes will be evaluated individually and equally (4% each, for a total of 20%). The assessment will be graded according to the following criteria: (1) Compliance with all required elements of the template, including completion of the mandatory AI questionnaire (1 point per note); (2) Depth of reflection on in class discussions and activities, demonstrating meaningful engagement with peers and clear connections between classroom learning and course readings (2 points per note); (3) Clarity and coherence of writing, including well-organized paragraphs and a reflective, thoughtful tone (1 point per note).
Due time: March 19 (Week 10)
