Assessment 2, Practical, individual 30%. Improving and designing arcade style games.

The assignment will be released to all on Monday of Week 9 and is due Friday of Week 10 at 23:59. Submit this document as a pdf with text and images via the practical assignment page on Canvas.

First, you must visit and play (or observe people playing) arcade games. There are multiple places to do this in the city, near UTS, there is Timezone on Level 2 of Central Park Mall, or Fortress also at Central Park Mall (on the 2nd floor of Fortress), iPlay at Broadway shopping centre, Timezone Haymarket or one near you.

Question 1. Choose an arcade game and improve its usability, (10 points).

Whilst at the arcade, analyse 1 arcade game of your choice, take a wide photo of the game and insert it in the space below (Photo 1 wide). Using the design principles Visibility, Feedback, Constraints, Affordances, Signifiers, Mapping, provide 5 different examples of how you would improve the game using any of the 7 design principles. Take close-up photos of the game component you are planning on improving and insert the photo in each of the 5 parts of your answers (a total of 6 photos).
