Research objective:
This study aims to explore the purpose of Chinese students pursuing master’s degrees in the UK and analyze how overseas education influences their personal and professional development. At the same time ,this research also can investigate the factors that drive students to decide to study abroad, as well as the formation of their specific purpose for pursuing overseas education and how to adapt to the life in U.K. with this purpose. Through qualitative research methods, it reveals how transnational educational experiences shape students’ identity, career goals, and perceptions of academic value. This study bridges theoretical frameworks with empirical realities to deepen the understanding of credentialism’s role in contemporary higher education and provide references for policy-making and cross-cultural educational exchanges. Additionally, it offers insights for prospective students considering postgraduate studies in the UK, encouraging them to re-examine their motivations and assess whether the impact of studying abroad aligns with their expectations.
