FINAL ASSIGNMENT GUIDELINES

Due June 14, 23.59 on Quercus

This assignment is worth 40 marks.

Aim:  to expand the IDEA assignment into a project with a reflective component.

Note: All the suggested page lengths are double-spaced.

Use the APA formatting rules.

NOTE: please add a note on how you divided work in your group .

My intention is to give a group mark to your IDEA assignment but if there is an imbalance in the value of your contributions, I will assign individual grades, in order to ensure that marking is equitable.

Your final assignment must include the following sections:

(1) Assignment topic revisited after TA feedback.

(2) 350-600-word bullet paragraph on the insights extracted from bibliography

(3) Multimedia artifact / video based on the insights extracted from bibliography

(4) Reflection to be submitted by each group member

(5) List of references

(6) Appendices (if any)

Note: The recommended page lengths under each section are double spaced.

(1) Assignment topic revisited after TA feedback .

Aim at ½ - ¾ page for this section.

State, building on the IDEA assignment and addressing the recommendations you received from your Teaching Assistant. If you have decided to do a different topic than the one proposed in your IDEA assignment, present the new topic.

Either way, after stating the topic, respond to all the questions from the IDEA assignment, item 2/ Narrow down the topic. Answer each question separately, do not put all answers in a paragraph.

E.g. : - WHAT is the topic about?  Respond.

- WHEN is the topic happening? Respond.

The purpose of revisiting these questions is to see how your topic can be reorganized, building on your Teaching Assistant’s feedback.

If you decide to do a different topic, responding to these questions will help you narrow it down.

Now that your topic is specific enough, you have a clearer sense of what scholarly sources you need to find. You may now proceed to (2).

(2) 350-600-word paragraph , in bullets (but please make sure each bullet is clear enough and includes sufficient content).

Write the top 5 insights/ main ideas that you extracted from the bibliographical sources you used. These ideas must be used to create the multimedia artifact. List these insights from the most to the least useful.

How many sources should you use?

To the 4 new scholarly sources included in your IDEA assignment, you will add two new. In total, 6 new scholarly sources. NEW = not included in the course outline or used in the course slides.

IMPORTANT: Can I use sources from course and/ or additional non-scholarly sources?

Yes, absolutely. As long as you extract insights from at least 6 (six) new scholarly and non-scholarly sources as mentioned above, you may use any other source you need. Please make sure that you include all the sources you use in a “Works Cited” list at the end of your assignment.

Can I change one of more of the sources I used in the IDEA assignment?

Yes, absolutely, you may change them all, if you wish. As long as your final assignment includes at least 6 (six) new scholarly and non-scholarly sources as mentioned above, everything is fine!

(3) Multimedia artifact / video based on the insights extracted from bibliography

Think about the person you mentioned in the IDEA assignment. In a sentence or two, explain who the person is and why have you chosen them for this assignment.

Create  a media artifact to present the topic you described at (1) (e.g. but not limited to: presentation, infographic, video, selfie, storyboard, podcast, cartoon). Choose the medium you are most attracted to, also considering the interests of your audience.

The media artifact must be created by your group.

Important: The media artifact must include the top 3 (out of 5) insights that you identified at (2).  In 100-150 words, explain how you used these insights in your media artifact.

Attach the media artifact to your assignment, or upload it on Quercus, along with your assignment, or include a link to it. If using a link: please test it to make sure it works.

(4)  Reflection

Note: Each group member will submit a reflection, based on their experience of writing their assignment.

In 75-100 words or slightly more, if necessary, reflect on:

-     What part of this assignment did you enjoy the most, and why?

-     What part of this assignment did you enjoy the least, and why?

-    What was the most challenging part of doing each of these assignments, and why? NOTE: even something that you enjoyed could have been challenging.

(5) List of  References

The list must include all the works you used in your proposal, scholarly or non-scholarly. Do not forget to include all the works in your literature review.

The list of references must be APA-formatted.

The entries in your list of references do NOT need to be annotated.

(6) Appendices (if any)

Here you include all the appendices to you work, such as photos, charts, statistics, infographics, etc.
