OVERVIEW

The objective of this assignment is for you to prepare a research-based, reflective piece of work individually. The contents and process for completing the related tasks are designed to make you understand, critically evaluate, and communicate the impact of digital transformation on the sustainability performance of businesses.

SCENARIO

Digital transformation has potential to enhance sustainability (i.e., economic, environmental, and social) performance of businesses. You are a digital transformation enthusiast who acknowledges businesses' growing concerns/interests towards sustainability and wishes to showcase how adopting a particular technology would affect businesses’ sustainability performance. Due to increasing concern about the ethical implications, you also need to address a few concerns related to your technology of interest and business. These concerns include ethical concerns, social justice, equality, human rights, and cultural diversity.

Select one emerging technology from the list provided and prepare a blog post discussing the technology's impact on businesses’ sustainability performance and its ethical implications.

DELIVERABLES

This assignment is to be submitted in two deliverables:

1. A plan for your blog post: Submit your plan in .docx or .pdf format on Canvas by 10 PM, Thursday, 28th March [week 05]. Late submissions will receive a penalty as per the university policy and guidelines on late submissions. [3%]

2. The blog post: Submit your blog post in .pdf format on Canvas by 10 PM, Friday, 31st May 2024 [week 12]. Late projects will receive a penalty as per the university policy and guidelines on late submissions. [12%]

BLOG POST PLAN: REQUIREMENTS [3%]

Your blog post plan is essentially an outline of what you wish to discuss in your blog post. It should include the following:

1. A title for the blog post

2. The technology you have selected for discussion.

3. A paragraph on businesses’ growing sustainability concerns/interests that the selected technology is expected to address.

4. The potential subheadings you would use to structure the blog post.

You may modify 1. Title and 4. Subheadings later as required during the blog post development process.

THE BLOG POST: REQUIREMENTS [12%]

Write a captivating and compelling argument about the selected technology and how it is expected to add value to businesses by addressing their sustainability concerns/interests.

• You should research, synthesise and communicate ideas coherently in the blog post, in no more than 1000 words. This word limit does not include the ethical implication table and reference list.

• Include the ethical implication table in your blog post.

• References to relevant research and cite it with APA 7.

• Your reflections from personal experiences, real-world examples, or observations, including your experience with emerging technologies at the Unleash Space in week 11.

• Additional figures and tables where applicable with references. However, for better readability, the total number of figures and tables in your blog post should not exceed 4.

Blog post presentation guidelines:

• Present your blog post professionally and attractively on a template of your choice.

• You may use any suitable format (e.g., .docx, html) when creating the blog post. However, the submission on Canvas must be in .pdf format.

• You can use first person or third person to write your blog post.

• Follow the guidelines for creating an effective blog post as directed in your lecture and TBL sessions.
