To achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness and global competitiveness, the concept of flexibility has become the driving force for the restructuring of many organisations in Australia, New Zealand and throughout Asia. For employers it refers to the ability to vary employee numbers, hours and place of work to meet variation in demand for the product or service. For employees, it refers to their ability to have flexible hours, times, schedules and places of work in order to meet their work, family and life demands (Nankervis et al, 2019).

Questions:

1. Discuss the three forms of work flexibility (numerical, functional, working time) and compare the benefits to both employers and employees of each type.

2. Explain, with relevant examples, the benefits and potential shortcomings of working from home for employees.

3. Analyse the advantages and disadvantages of flexible work arrangements for managers (employers) and employees. Use relevant examples to support your discussion.
