By using the case study attached as the supporting material, the students should use the relevant tools, technique and concepts (TTCs) for the case study in order to identify the key strategic issues. The student then should identify the relevant strategic options to address those specified key strategic issues. The students then finally to justify these strategic choices by using suitability, acceptability and feasibility criteria.

The students need to answer the following two questions on the case study

1. What are the key strategic issues the company (selected company case study)  is facing?

2. What strategies should the company formulate and implement in addressing these strategic issues – Your answers must be supplemented by the TTCs of strategy

Module Learning Outcomes:

In this assessment the following learning outcomes will be covered from international business perspective:

· Understand the basic tools and techniques used in the analysis of company performance and strategic positioning.

· Establish an understanding how these methods are applied in the re-evaluation and formulation of strategy.

· Understand the specifics of theories, concepts, models and frameworks related to international business strategies.

Grading Criteria:

The students will be graded according to following specific criteria:

1) Strategic Analyses: Identification of strategic issues by using the relevant theories, tools and concepts (TTCs) from either or both market base view or resource base view. The marks will be awarded based-on clarity and quality of the strategic analysis conducted in the report.

2) Justification of key strategic issues: The identified key strategic issues from section 1 above should be justified and should be stated whether they are shorter or longer terms strategic issues. The marks will be awarded based on the extent of the argument and discussion on why they should be considered key strategic issue.

3) Justification of strategic recommendations: In this section of the report, the students should identify the key strategic recommendations for those key strategic issues that identified and justified in section 2 above. The student should identify two strategic recommendations: One short term and one long term and then they should be justified by using suitability, acceptability, and feasibility criteria. The marks awarded on the section will be based on the quality and extend of the discussion and justification by these criteria.

4) The use of appendix material: The marks will be awarded on the usage of the appropriateness of the relevant TTCs that are employed to identify the key strategic issues stated in section one above.

Both Summative and Formative feedback is given to encourage students to reflect on their learning that feed forward into following assessment tasks.
