Part 1: 7 pts.

Cascode Amplifier
rb= 50 , RS=50 , RC = 500 , fT = 10 GHz, fin= 1 GHz, DC= 100, Vcc= 3 V, VBE= 750 mV (Threshold voltage), Vb1= 752mV. Note that Q1 and Q2 are same transistors.
Cascode Amplifier is commonly used as an analog and RF amplifier for many applications. It is also the most important structure for low-noise amplifier design. Provide the followings:
1) 1 pts Find the DC collector current for Q1.
2) 1 pts. What is the DC voltage range for Vb2 that keeps the amplifier in operation?
3) 1 pts. Find iout/vb . That is, the change in output current that results from a change in the base voltage of Q1.
4) 1 pts. Give the results asked in 1, 2 and 3 when Vb1= 1.2 V ?
5) 2 pts Design and simulate this amplifier such that the gain will be equal or more than 10 dB
6) 1 pts Analyse the linearity of the amplifier by plotting 1dB compression point

The above bipolar amplifier is operating with 1 GHz (f = 1 GHz).
1) 2 pts. Design the matching network (MN) circuit to match the source to the input impedance of the amplifier (ZL) for maximum power delivery.
2) 1 pts. Plot the ratio of the voltage at the output of the MN circuit to the input voltage from 0 to 2 GHz by (vL/vs vsf ). Calculate the Q of the MN circuit you designed. Note: You can simulate the matching circuit section only, not the entire circuit.
Note: consider high frequency model for the amplifier.
