FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Do I have to read everything in the chapters that are assigned as you have not covered everything?

A: You do not have to read everything though you are encouraged to. You should use the lecture slides and tutorial questions as a guide as to what areas you should focus on.

Q: Are there past examination papers that I can look at?

A: No – however, you have the questions at the end of each chapter in the Teall textbook (and Hasbrouck textbook) that you could refer to. The solutions are at the back end of the text. You could also refer to the end of chapter questions in the Harris text that is available from the library. Unfortunately, there are no solutions to these questions. Also, you should have a close look at the tutorial questions on material covered in weeks 1 to 3, as well as revision questions available on LMS.

Q: Will you be posting the solutions to the tutorial questions on LMS?

A: No – you should have the answers if you attended the relevant class. If you have missed any of the classes then you can collaborate with your fellow students.

Q: Some of the questions at the end of the chapter focus on things we have not covered in class, should I know them?

A: Again, you should look to the lecture slides and tutorial questions as a guide to what areas you should focus on.

Q: Are the multi-choice questions in the lecture quizzes similar to the multi-choice questions in the weekly quizzes?

A: Yes – they are a good indicator of the style of questions in the test. However, you will have more options to pick from for each question.

Q: Will I be able to bring any formula sheets or notes to the test?

A: Yes. Please refer to the Exam Instructions at the end of this document. Note that you will need to acknowledge the instructions on the exam day before you are able to access the exam.

Q: Will the multiple-choice questions be solely “theory” type questions?

A: No. There are some numeric questions too, some of which may require you to use your calculator.

Q: Can I email you with questions about the slides and textbook if I do not understand them?

A: It is best that you approach teaching team during the consultation sessions.

Q: What should I do if I cannot make the mid-semester test?

A: Please ensure that you have a valid reason and consult staff at the Student Centre on the ground floor of the UWA Business School.

FINA3307 Mid-semester Exam Instructions

FINA3307 Mid-semester exam is an Online LMS Exam. When you attend it:

1.  Please note these Exam Instructions will be visible at the top of the screen during your exam in the Test Information section. You can select the arrows next to the information section to collapse or expand it.

2.  Please ensure that:

a.  you close unnecessary programs, windows, or tabs before the exam;

b.  you only have one instance of the test open while completing it;

c.  you use an approved and up-to-date browser (i.e., Firefox or Chrome) - do not use Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge.

Permitted Items during Exam

On your table or desk:

-      Pen, pencil, ruler and set square,  eraser;

- UWA-approved calculator(You do not need a sticker on your calculator to sit online exams. Your calculator must not be programmable, display graphics or have any connectivity           capability such as Bluetooth);

-      Hard-copy textbooks, lecture notes and other printed study materials;

Away from your desk:

-      Phone

-      Smart watches

-      Food

-      Caps and hats

-      Wallets

-      MP3 players, headphone and products with an electronic communication or storage facility

Unwell and unable to sit the exam

If you're feeling sick prior to starting your exam, do not enter the exam folder in LMS, as this will        register your intention to sit the exam and you may not be eligible to apply for special consideration. If you are unwell before the exam, consult a medical practitioner as soon as you can and apply for     special consideration to defer your exam. You will need to supply a medical certificate from a              medical practitioner with your application.

Unwell during exam

If you're feeling sick during your exam and feel you are too sick to continue, stop working on your      exam and submit the work you have done. Consult a medical practitioner as soon as you can and        apply for special consideration to defer your exam. You will need to supply a medical certificate from a medical practitioner with your application.

Contact with your Unit Coordinator is not allowed DURING the exam.

Error or comment on Online LMS exam paper

If you have a question or comment about the exam paper or would like to alert your Unit                      Coordinator to a perceived error, include a comment in your working, if appropriate, to indicate how you interpreted the question. If you're unable to include a comment in your working due to the          exam format (i.e. multiple choice exams), email your Unit Coordinator immediately after the exam    to notify her of your comments on the exam. If applicable, your comments may be taken into account when marking. No action can be taken during the exam. You are advised to answer to the best of your ability and are assured that you will not be disadvantaged if there is an error on the    question paper.
