1.  The Final Exam will cover all of the course material. The testable material is defined by the content of the lectures, the textbook chapters (specific readings are indicated in lecture slides), readings and the homework/tutorial program.

2.  The Final Exam will be held as a Moodle quiz. The Final Exam will take place on Thursday, 18th August 2022, as scheduled in the UNSW examination timetable. The quiz will be made available on Moodle under a section called Final Exam. The quiz will open at 6 pm AEST, and will remain open till 9 pm AEST.

(a)  The allowable quiz time from when you open the quiz is 2 hours & 15 minutes (135 minutes) in total. This comprises 120 minutes for the quiz and an extra 15 minutes to upload any necessary documents and submit your quiz answers.

(b)  You are advised to upload your document responses well ahead of the quiz deadline to avoid last- minute technical issues. You should also submit the quiz ahead of the quiz deadline. Once the allowable time of 135 minutes is reached no responses will be accepted by Moodle. There will be no exceptions.

(c) The section Final Exam will contain a link to the quiz and a declaration document. The declaration document must be read and clicked before the quiz can be accessed.

(d)  You should check this for any instructions provided about the quiz.

(e) The quiz is open book. You may refer to any of your course materials. You can also use a calculator. (f)  During the quiz, all other course contents on Moodle will be closed.

(g) You are not allowed to communicate with, or receive communications from, anyone during the quiz, other  than  emailing  me  with  any  crucial  questions  about  the  quiz.  My  email  address  is

3.  You should ensure (well ahead of time) that you have in place all the necessary resources needed to do the quiz. Please carefully read the document entitled "Helpful Instructions for Undertaking Online Moodle Quizzes" provided in a separate announcement.

4.  The quiz may contain several types of questions. These include multiple choice questions (MCQs), numerical questions (requiring a numerical answer), short answer questions (requiring a word or phrase answer) and "essay" questions. For numerical answers, ensure that your answer is accurate up to the required number of decimal points (unless otherwise stated, the default is 2 decimal places). Fractions or whole numbers are not valid numerical answers. For the word answers, be very careful with your spelling (including singular versus plural). The "essay" questions require either (i) an answer via text in an answer box or (ii) the upload of a PDF document into the second answer box. The "essay" questions typically require you to provide an explanation or discussion of something, or require you to derive a result. In "essay" questions, please note that:

(a) all working and reasoning must be shown, and (b) marks are awarded for correct working and reasoning, notjustfor what might be technically correct answers.

5.  There is one essay question worth 10 marks and three numerical questions worth 25 marks. Rest 15 marks are multiple choice questions.

6.  Your quiz answers to "essay" questions are to be submitted as a document, except if you choose to answer the question in the text box. If you choose the text box method, please be aware that the size of the text box  is  limited,  with  a  limit  of 40  lines  of text.    The upload  of an  answer  document  is  strongly recommended.  The document should preferably be a PDF, but may be another document such as Word or an image. If you are writing your answers on paper (rather than using a tablet or a word-processor to produce the PDF), you may need to scan your answers as a PDF document. Either use a scanning machine
