ACC202

Accounting Information Systems

Assessment 1 Information

Your Task

From Week 3 to 11, you will be required to demonstrate highly interactive and well-informed              participation throughout the term. This assessment has been established because accounting          graduates are now less commonly required to undertake manual processes that computers perform with greater efficiency. Accounting graduates are instead more commonly expected to communicate complex accounting standards, to defend budgetary decisions in public forums and to present the     findings of their analyses to stakeholders who may be unfamiliar with the underpinning technical       knowledge.

Assessment Description

Active participation in this subject is determined via the combination of two deliverables:

•   Presentation in class of selected week’s learning outcomes – at least once during the trimester. This will incorporate all the following elements

o mini presentation with a duration of 2-3 minutes.

o spontaneous questions asked of every student by their teachers; and

o activities that necessitate discussion and debate within teams.

•   Submission of the above presentation, as PowerPoint or Word Doc, prior to the commencement of the associated week’s class.

Assessment Instructions

•   Review the questions in the Preparation Guide for each week’s class.

•   Attend every class prepared to be assessed on active participation.

•   The extent and caliber of participation will be determined by the rubric on Page 3.

By the fifth week of this assessment, which coincides with the end of Week 7, you will be provided with feedback on whether your participation up until that point is consistent with a grade of High Distinction, Distinction, Credit, Pass or Fail.  With this insight, you will be able to determine whether you ought to   exert greater effort for the remaining five weeks of this assessment.

Detailed instructions for the In-Class Group presentation are available under Week 3 notes.
