ABOUT THIS SUBJECT

Entrepreneurship is an essential element of today’s society. This subject will outline the basic principles of Entrepreneurship within the context of I.T. It will examine the steps required in developing an idea into a   business and will explore the tools and necessary insights to make a successful I.T. venture. You will        have an opportunity to interpret and employ theory to case studies. Guest speakers will present and          discuss start-up issues, pitfalls, and the ingredients for success.

You will also have an opportunity to develop professional skills related to ethical and moral decision making and evaluate the social implications of work and the broader global context.

SUBJECT INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES (SILOs)

Upon successful completion of this subject, you should be able to:

1.   Analyse various resources for financing entrepreneurial ventures with understanding of the development process needed.

2.   Critically analyse social and ethical issues in entrepreneurial ventures as well as more broadly across IT and business.

3.   Apply contemporary practices in the development of a career profile and portfolio.

4.   Examine the responsibilities of IT professionals to employers, clients, and society.

5.   Reflect and analyse personal viewpoints toward managing relationships and individual personal entrepreneurial capacity.
