Integrated Design Project 1A - 2021-2022

Introduction

You are required to design a simple pneumatic actuator using Fusion 360 Computer Aided

Design software. You can select your design from one of the following designs:

The details for this can be found in the following Link:

https://www.slb.com/-/media/files/vl/brochure/ledeen-actuator-control-solutions-br.ashx

You are required to produce a full design so that the volumetric dimensions are 550 mm × 300 mm × 250 mm. You are free to choose dimensions of all the other parts. You can also change the shape as you wish. You will need to specify appropriate materials. The middle section should include the frame design and the yoke design as it is shown in the following figure.

The following two videos will provide some information about the actuator:

Submission details

Only the following should be submitted:

1 page University of Birmingham Assessment and Feedback Student Template (see

canvas)

1 page hand sketching of the assembly providing general dimensioning                           an engineering drawing of the assembly in 3rd angle projection (1 page A4 maximum)     an engineering drawing of the assembly in isometric projection (1 page A4 maximum)     detail engineering drawings, in 3rd  angle projection, of the two different parts (1 page

A4 maximum for each part). You can select two different parts between frame, yoke, spring, casing, power cylinder or spring cartridge.

Therefore, the submission should consist of 6 sheets of A4 only.

The assignment should be submitted electronically through Canvas as a single PDF file. The deadline for submission is 23:59 on Friday 12 August 2022. Any work submitted late will receive a penalty of 5% per day.

To   create   a   single    PDF   file,   save    each   drawing    as   a    PDF.       Then    use

http://www.pdfmerge.com/to create a single file.

If you are unclear about any aspect of electronic submission, you should seek advice well in advance of the assignment deadline. Remember to check the file you have submitted after submission to ensure that it is correct.
