Introduction and Motivation
With the development of society and the advancement of science and technology, electric vehicles are becoming more and more popular, and there is a tendency to catch up with gasoline and diesel vehicles. As a new energy vehicle, electric vehicles can be divided into pure electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, etc. according to the proportion of energy. Meanwhile, due to some international factors, gasoline prices have recently hit new highs. So I think some potential gas car consumers, including me, will reconsider buying an electric car because of this. Therefore, I want to find out the advantages and disadvantages of the electric vehicles comparing with the gas vehicles. This report aims to find out
1. Are Electric cars more Economical?
2. Are Electric cars safe?
3. Will the gas vehicle consumers change their consumption habits due to oil prices rises?
Data Wrangling
Plot type: Bar chart
The advantage of bar chart is that on the one hand, it is convenient for users to understand a large amount of data and the relationship between data. Another advantage is that users can read the original data more quickly and intuitively through visual symbols. Since we want to see the best−selling plug−in electric vehicle models worldwide in 2021, so the bar chart is more appropriate.

Also, in order to intuitively see the market share of electric vehicles with different prices in China, I chose the pie chart.
Data Checking
For the data checking, to find out if the datasets are reliable. Firstly, read the EV brand, range data and displayed the results in R studio. Then I sorted the data values reverse order. After checking the value, there is no null value. When I compare the volume of electric cars and non-electric cars of USA, I first add BEVs, PHEVs and EVs together as EVs.

Through the line chart, it is very clear that the sales volume of electric vehicles
increased very fast from 2016 to 2021, especially from 2020 to 2021.

From this pie chart, The price of electric vehicles also has a significant impact on their sales. With the improvement of people's quality of life, electric vehicles with a price between
20000 euros and 40000 euros
occupy the highest market share in China, and Tesla happens to be in this price range, indicating that people's recognition of electric vehicles and Tesla is very high.
From the safety report by Euro NCAP, Tesla's various models have the highest safety rate compare with
other brands.
From this scatter plot by exploring the relationship between price and range, we find that it is probably positively correlated. However, the range of most electric vehicles on sale is concentrated
between 250km and
500km, and the price is also concentrated between 30000 euros and 70000 euros, which also verifies that electric vehicles in this price range are the most recognized by
people around the world.
The top speed is also a factor considered by some consumers. In this figure, the price is positively correlated with the top speed. This also shows that the higher the performance of electric vehicles, the higher the price.
In this chart, the price is negatively correlated with the acceleration time. This also shows that the higher the price of electric vehicles, the shorter the acceleration time, and the better the performance.
By comparing the changes of vehicle registration in the United States from 2018 to 2022, we find that people's enthusiasm for fuel vehicles is gradually decreasing, so they turn their attention to electric vehicles or new energy vehicles, which reflects the enhancement of people's awareness of environmental protection and the low daily
consumption of electric vehicles.

Through the price cost investigation of some car enterprises, we also explore the price range of electric vehicles, which once again confirms that most of the prices of electric vehicles are concentrated in segment
B, C and D.
Conclusion
In conclusion, through our calculation and comparison of various data, we find that
people's expectations for electric vehicles are different from fuel vehicles. Electric
vehicles with a price between 40000 and 60000 euros are the most recognized. In the higher price, consumers are more inclined to buy fuel vehicles, which has always been the consumption view of consumers. However, with the increase of oil price and the improvement of safety, luxury and range of electric vehicles, more consumers will choose electric vehicles in the near future.
