This is a group-based project in which students are required to analyze real cases. This assignment intends to develop students’ research aptitude and application of financial theories. This assignment is used mainly to assess outcomes 1 to 3.

Each tutorial group will be divided into several project groups, each consisting of 3-4 students. Each group is required to conduct a research project on a finance topic and submit a written answer to the topic on the due date ofthis assignment.

Your group is required to submit a 2000 words written report on the due date ofthis assignment.

The research project should:

a)          construct a time series model for a financial data series

b)          utilize recent data from a database such as Bloomberg professional or Yahoo! Finance

c)          identify an appropriate econometric model for the data

d)          estimate parameters of the econometric model by using a statistical software

e)          make forecasts by using the selected model

f)           evaluate the accuracy of the forecasts
