Assignment 3: Qualtrics, SPSS and Experiment
INTG1-GC 1055
Part 1 - Create and distribute Qualtrics Questionnaire and create SPSS dataset
For this assignment you must submit 3 documents:
• Main Word file
o Hypotheses
o Constructs
o initial instruments
o Feedback from peer-reviewers (screenshot or copied text)
o Explanation of changes based on feedback
• Word Export file of the final version of the Qualtrics survey
• SPSS data export file from Qualtrics
Design research that would use survey design. Steps in the assignment:
1. State the RQ(s) or hypothesis(es) in your research.
2. Think about the constructs/variables that you want to measure, assess, or “capture”
(NOTE: List the variable(s) and/or construct(s) that you would like to measure or capture)
a. Explore if there is a preexisting instrument OR if you will develop questions yourself. (NOTE: Search for existing instruments/questionnaires in academic journals, consumer indices, and industry reports. You can adapt existing instruments to fit your context by substituting some words. For example, a question “Overall, I am satisfied with this car” can be adapted to fit the restaurant context “Overall, I am satisfied with this smart phone”).
3. Building on the knowledge from in-class exercises, class lectures, and question 2 from this assignment, create a 5-10 questions questionnaire for your own research and 3 people for peer evaluation (could be your classmates). These people should not be a part of your final sample; however, they should be knowledgeable enough to understand your research topic and be comfortable with completing your survey.
4. Instruct your peer reviewers to complete your survey and evaluate it for clarity. At the end of your questionnaire, add an open-ended question that will allow your participants to comment on the clarity of your survey or specific questions asked (see Fig. 1).
HINT: Make sure to include a brief explanation about your research in the beginning of the survey. Include questions about basic demographic characteristics at the end of the
survey.

5. Generate a report in Qualtrics for the peer evaluation question (See Fig 2. And Fig. 3 for more information about ‘Reports’ tab), take a screenshot of the results from the report, and copy the screenshot in your assignment response.

Fig 3. Example of the screenshot from Qualtrics report.
6. What conclusions can you draw from the peer evaluation of your survey? What did you change about your survey? Please explain (minimum 100 words).
7. Print/Export the questionnaire and upload it on NYU classes.
8. Distribute survey to minimum of 20 people using Qualtrics survey link
a. You can share it on social media or send to other students in the course or send link in an email
9. Download data from the survey to SPSS and upload SPSS data file to NYU classes
10. Develop short report on the results of the survey.
Part 2 – Design an experiment
Design research that would use experimental design with one or two manipulated variables. Steps in the assignment:
1. State the RQ(s) or hypothesis(es) in your research.
2. Think about the constructs/variables that you want to manipulate (independent variables) and those that you want to measure (dependent variables) (NOTE: List the variable(s) and/or construct(s) that you would like to measure or manipulate)
o Manipulated variables - Choose one or two variables. Clearly define conditions that each variable can take. Manipulation can be regarding product name, product attribute, price, distribution channel or any other variable.
a. Dependent variables - Add several questions (3 to 5) that would measure dependent variables (e.g. satisfaction, evaluation, emotional reaction, willingness to purchase). Explore if there is a preexisting instrument OR if you will develop questions yourself. (NOTE: Search for existing
instruments/questionnaires in academic journals, consumer indices, and industry reports. You can adapt existing instruments to fit your context by substituting some words. For example, a question “Overall, I am satisfied with this car” can be adapted to fit the restaurant context “Overall, I am satisfied with this smart phone”).
3. Define sample that you would like to recruit
4. Explain experimental procedures
a. How would experiment be conducted (e.g. online, lab, natural)
b. How is data collected (e.g. survey, observations)
