Assignment #4

For this assignment you will be creating a physical artwork from yet another collage you will be sent.

You will make this artwork through the lens of the elevator pitch extracted from your manifesto.

Lana will send you a collage and I will send your manifesto feedback.

This artwork will be presented during the formal assessment period on April 24th.

You are not just presenting an artwork, you are creating an exhibition. A little ‘Networking’ will be required by our group.

Formal Assessment/Exhibition Details:

Date: April 24, 2026
Time: 12:30PM - 6:30PM
Room: MCA-230

You will be challenged to work together to give the final result the feel of an exhibition rather than a critique. Think gallery installation, not person by person evaluation. Remember, we are a large class and you will likely need to create some sort of plinth or mounting system depending on your specific work.

We will have access to the room starting at 9am on April 24th.

The seating will be retracted, and you will be presenting your artwork in the space. Remember, we are a large class and you will likely need to create some sort of plinth or mounting system depending on your specific work. Think of the themes of the class, your personal manifesto and your response to what we have discussed.

Class time for our final three classes will be allotted to help you work together, brainstorm, and discuss your planned work and exhibition. You are advised to be in class over the coming weeks to make sure you now what is going on and to be able to participate fully.

SUBMISSION

In addition to displaying the work April 24th, you will need to submit photographic documentation of your final work. This is also due April 24th.

Evaluation

This assignment will be assessed on its artistic qualities, its response to the themes of your own manifesto, its response to themes of the class, and your ability to collaborate with the group to create an exhibition. Creating the exhibition, as a class, is part of the assignment.
