ENLT 1156 Multimodal Presentation Assignment

Description:

This assignment asks you to conduct a deep, multimodal character study of one significant character from any of the texts we've read this term.

You will explore the character’s motivations, development, relationships, symbolic role, and their impact on the speculative world they inhabit. Your goal is to illuminate who they are, why they matter, and how they fit into the broader science fiction themes we’ve discussed in class (e.g. identity, alienation, technological transformation, etc.)

Assignment Requirements:

1. Select one character from any one of the texts we are reading in class. Analyze their personality, arc, and relationships, using key scenes and quotes.

2. Connect your analysis to major course themes (e.g., ethics, body vs. mind, sexuality, otherness, environment, etc.)

3. Design your multimodal presentation, weaving together analysis and media for impact and clarity. Your presentation must include at least three of the following multimodal elements:

· Visual – slides, character maps, diagrams, digital artwork, etc.

· Audio – narration, soundscapes, music, etc.

· Textual – quotes from the text, literary analysis, etc.

· Digital – website, video, etc.

4. Your presentation must be a minimum of 8 minutes in length (roughly 10 PowerPoint slides including audio, digital, and/or video content.)

5. You will also submit a 250-300 word (roughly one page) reflection explaining your creative and analytical choices you incorporated into your presentation. Include this as a separate Word document.

Due Dates & Other Considerations:

· The Multimodal Presentation is due in the D2L assignment folder by 11:59pm March 20th.

· I DO NOT ACCEPT GOOGLE DOCS LINKS OR .PAGES FILES. I strongly recommend that you use Microsoft PowerPoint for your presentation and Microsoft Word for your reflection.
