ASSESSMENT BRIEF
Assessment Task
Research Focus: Sustainability as a Driver for Competitiveness in global trade fair industry
You are required to produce a 1000-word report that critically analyses the trade fairs in different nations through the specific lens of sustainability. Your report should investigate how environmental policies are driving changes in event characteristics and stakeholder relationships.
Furthermore, you must evaluate the tangible environmental and societal impacts of these changes and identify the key implementation challenges that organisers face in their pursuit of a greener, more competitive business model.
It is suggested that you need:
- To demonstrate the understanding of relevant MICE knowledge or principles
- To ensure the application of diverse trade fair events from different destinations
- To include the evidence reflecting the recent trend in MICE sustainability for a better fulfillment of analysis
- To evaluate the existing green actions and recommend other solutions for an improvement in sustainability approach
Task Specific Guidance
You are advised to:
• Adhere to the word limit as set out in the assessment task as this is not subject to variation. The limit excludes the executive summary, table of contents, reference list, and appendices.
• Adopt a formal writing style and should be written in the third person. This means that you should not use the term “I” or “we” in your report.
• Number and reference all tables, charts, graphs (Tables and Charts are not included in the word count).
• Use 1.5 line spacing, type in Times New Roman or Arial (12 point font).
• Avoid description of the content of material referred to – critical evaluation is required where specified.
• Read widely from textbooks, journals and authoritative commentaries in forming your views.
• Refer back to your tutorial work and notes where you have covered key issues and developed critical argument that is relevant to the requirement of this assessment.
• Pay close attention to the Assessment Criteria at the end of this document – this lists general assessment criteria and specific criteria to the requirements of this assignment. These criteria will be used to inform your electronic feedback on your marked assignment.
• Use the University Referencing guide which is APA 7th. Note that poorly referenced material will lose you marks (make sure you consult the Learning
Development Group Tutors on level 1 of the Business School for any additional help needed).
•You can access APA 7th via Brightspace by clicking on the Library button to access the easy to use online guide.
• Do not exceed the word limit. A 5% mark penalty applies for work exceeding the word limit.
A detailed marking scheme is in Appendix 1.
