Course Description
Personalised English Language Enhancement (PELE) is a self-directed learning course designed to help you enhance your communication skills in English. In this course, you will be guided to develop a personal project that meets your needs and implement it in a warm and safe environment being supported not only by the teachers but also by peer mentors. In addition, you will learn a number of important skills needed for life-long learning, including relective thinking and time management.

Additional Course Information
To pass this course, students must attend at least 80% of all classes, including lectures and
tutorials. If students cannot attend due to unforeseen circumstances, they are expected to notify their lecturer (lectures) or tutor (tutorials) in advance where possible.

Personal Project Design (PPD)
Assessment Overview
Students will design a personal project to address their individual English language needs. They are required to specify their personal project goal, background, method, resources, progress
measurement, timeline, daily schedule and anticipated outcomes. The Personal Project Design (PPD) should be informed by relevant literature in the ield. The word limit for PPD is 1000.
Students receive written feedback based on rubrics.
This assignment is submitted through Turnitin and students can see Turnitin similarity reports.

Detailed Assessment Description
This assessment consists of two components:
· In-lecture Quizzes (10%) – Short quizzes delivered during lectures to support students in developing their PPD.
· PPD (20%) – A written submission where students present their Personal Project Design.

1000-1500 words (a 5% over- or under-limit penalty applies) Assessment information
This word-limit range is set to give students enough space to develop a meaningful and
personalised plan while still keeping the work focused and manageable. It also relects academic communication expectations, supporting the development of clear, purposeful writing.

You are permitted to use generative AI tools, software or services to generate initial ideas,
structures, or outlines. However, you must develop or edit those ideas to such a signiicant extent that what is submitted is your own work, i.e., what is generated by the tool, software or service
should not be a part of your inal submission. You should keep copies of your iterations to show your Course Authority if there is any uncertainty about the originality of your work.
If your Convenor has concerns that your answer contains passages of AI-generated text or media that have not been suiciently modiied you may be asked to explain your work, but we recognise that you are permitted to use AI generated text and media as a starting point and some traces
may remain. If you are unable to satisfactorily demonstrate your understanding of your submission you may be referred to UNSW Conduct & Integrity Oice for investigation for academic misconduct and possible penalties.

Assessment Overview
Students are required to document their learning activities in their logbooks and regularly record relections in their journal. They must dedicate a minimum of 27 hours, including 7 hours of
participation in a social club.
Students receive verbal feedback in class.

Assessment Overview
Students will present the highlights of their personal project in a 5-7-minute presentation aimed at inspiring peers to continue to enhance their communication skills even after completing the course. Students will receive written feedback on their presentation performance from the tutor
and peers based on set rubrics.
