Instructions for candidates
Please answer two of the following questions. Each answer should be 1,250 words (the standard rules apply, so your answer can be +/-10% of the required word count).
Assignments should be word-processed: 12pt font size using Arial, with 1.5 line spacing.
You should engage with the reading material from the course reading list in the essays. Essays which engage with material beyond the reading list are welcome, but they should not be exclusively based on material beyond the course.
This is an open-book take-home exam. You have 7 days in which to complete this examination.
The exam counts for 70% of the overall course grade.

Please answer two of the following questions.
1.Choose a pair of Sustainable Development Goals and explain how they could be inter-related in practice.
2.You are the Minister of Energy for a middle-income developing country. The president or Prime Minister wants to deliver your country’s commitment to the Paris Agreement and has asked you to recommend an appropriate policy. You must review the most common approaches, identify debates in scholarly literature, and recommend a policy accordingly.
3.Assess how globalization in 2000 differs from globalization in 2025, and assess the implications of these changes for global development.
4.Should policy makers prioritize addressing poverty or inequality? Explain why.
5.The World Commission on Environment and Development reported on “Our Common Future” (1987) where the commissioners pick out the need for technological innovations. Examine how the world has fared this century in responding to this need and what has been the supports or barriers.
