Examination Period: Period 1, January 2026

Module Code and Title: 4QQMB100 Introduction to Management

Time allowed: Students are recommended to spend no longer than 2 hours on this paper. The paper will be available for 8 hours from 09:00 GMT on 13 January 2026. Students will need to submit their answers by 17:00 GMT on 13 January 2026.

Word count: Students should not exceed more than 1000 words per question, 2000 words total for this paper.

INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES:

1. There are 4 questions in total.

2. Answer ONE question from Section A and ONE question from Section B.

3. Each question has equal weighting.

4. You will find the case studies on the module KEATS page.

5. A template cover sheet has been provided on the KEATS page, you should complete and type your answers below or attach to the front of your submission. Make sure you clearly indicate the questions you are answering (e.g. Section A, Question 1).

6. If you have a PAA cover sheet, you should include this in addition to your submission.

7. Save your work regularly, at least every 15 minutes.

ONLINE SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS:

SECTION A

You should answer one question from this section.

1) Referring to the case studies of Danand/or Molly’, critically discuss the statement: “Employees who experience burnout at work are simply not the right people for the job.  In your discussion, draw upon relevant stress theories and empirical evidence to assess whether burnout results from the workplace environment or the individual employee.

2) Referring to the case study Steve Jackson Faces Resistance to

Change,” discuss whether resistance to change is inevitable in organizational settings. In your answer, critically evaluate this statement by drawing on relevant theories and empirical evidence to explore the causes of resistance and potential strategies to manage it.

SECTION B

You should answer one question from this section.

1) "Good leaders are born; they cannot be trained". Critically discuss

this statement in light of theories and research into leadership.

2) "If you want to motivate your employees, just pay them more!" Critically discuss this statement in light of theories and research into work motivation.
