Weighting: 40% of Final Grade

Step-by-Step Portfolio Guide

1. What to Include in the Portfolio

Your portfolio must be a scanned or photographed collection of all writing materials from the semester, organized chronologically. Include:

All workshop drafts (Freewriting exercises, 4 in class assignments: 2 monologue drafts & 2 Short Play Drafts).

Final versions of Assignment 1 (Monologue) and Assignment 2 (Short Play).

Dated notes from lectures, tutorials, and peer feedback sessions.

Reflective commentary (see Step 2).

Format:

•     Submit as a single PDF file (combine scans/photos in order).

Label each document with:

o  Title (e.g., "Monologue Draft – Week 2")

o  Date written

o  Brief context (e.g., "Response to Stimulus 3: My Biggest Fear")

2. Reflective Commentary (30% of Portfolio Grade)

For each major piece (monologue & short play), write a 300-word reflection covering:

Inspiration – What sparked your idea? (Refer to stimuli, discussions, or examples.)

Creative Process – Did you use the Pantser method? How did your draft evolve?

Peer/Lecturer Feedback – What suggestions did you apply (or reject)? Why?

Self-Critique – What worked well? What would you improve?

3. The Constructive Critique (10% of Portfolio Grade)

Include one 200-word critique of a peer’s work (from workshops or assignments).

Address:

Strengths (e.g., strong character voice, compelling conflict).

Areas for Growth (e.g., clarity, pacing, emotional impact).

Specific suggestions (e.g., "Try shortening sentences in the climax for tension.").

Note: Be respectful and constructive—imagine you’re helping them revise!
