INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT (20%)

Title: Market Segmentation and Promotion Strategies in the Automobile Industry

Objectives

To enable students:

Determine the external factors influencing the micro and macro marketing environment dynamic marketplace (CLO2 – 10%)

Recognise the importance of marketing channels, such as, advertising (off- and online) and public relations, and direct and online marketing (CLO 4 – 10%)

Assessment

Students will be assessed based on the criteria outlined in the rubric provided.

Requirement

This is an individual assignment.  You are required to answer the following questions to complete your report.

You are the marketing manager of an automobile company. One of your jobs is to effectively communicate the value of the products and services to the target market. Table 1 shows two types of cars offered by your company.

A

The smallest car has a wheelbase of less than 2,450 mm, a body   length shorter than 4,000 mm, and an engine displacement of  approximately 1.0 litres. It offers fuel efficiency and affordable pricing (approx. RM40,000 – RM60,000).

B

A luxury car has a long wheelbase, the body length is longer than 5,000 mm, and it is equipped with a powerful engine. It provides great abundance of ease and comfort, positioned at a premium level (approx. RM300,000 and above).

Your written report should include answer to the following questions:

1. Who are the target markets for Product A and Product B? Provide justification based on demographic, psychographic, and behavioural characteristics.

2. How have you structured the promotion mix strategy to engage consumers, communicate customer value persuasively, and build customer relationships for each product?

3. How do external factors influence your promotion mix choices for Product A and Product B?

4. Do you think it is more beneficial for an automobile company to target segments individually, or should they consider the overall market as a whole? Justify your answer with relevant arguments.

Must provide at least THREE (3) supporting valid evidence as citations to your answer.

Specification

Your report should be accompanied by 4 to 6 pages including the cover pages and references.

The assignment must be submitted by 13th November 2025 before 5pm in both soft and hard copies:

Soft copy: Submit via Google Classroom in the "Individual Assignment" column.

Hard copy: Submit a printed report to my pigeonhole (AS1, Ground Floor, No.  23).  You are encouraged to utilise  the double-sized printing for the report.

**One mark per day will be deducted if the assignment is submitted beyond the date and time.
