Title: The Impact of Republican Social Media Rhetoric on Voter Behavior in the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election

Introduction:

This paper plans to explore how the Republican Party utilizes social media rhetoric to influence voter behavior during the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election. Specifically, it will analyze how messages on platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram are crafted to engage, persuade, and mobilize voters. Through the use of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), I will examine the language and rhetorical strategies employed in these posts to understand how they reflect and shape political ideologies.

Research Question:

The main research question of this study is:

How does the Republican Party use social media rhetoric to influence voter behavior in the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election?

Importance of the Topic:

This topic is important for several reasons. First, social media has become a primary tool for political communication, particularly in the context of recent elections. As platforms like Twitter and Facebook continue to dominate as spaces for political discourse, it is essential to understand how political parties are using these platforms to shape public opinion. This research will contribute to existing literature on political communication by providing insights into how social media rhetoric can influence voter behavior. While previous studies have explored the role of social media in elections, few have focused specifically on the Republican Party’s strategic use of language to mobilize and persuade voters in the digital age. By filling this gap, the research will offer a comprehensive look at modern campaign tactics and the power of digital rhetoric.

Methodology:

The study will construct a specialized corpus of Republican social media content, including:

1. Textual posts, captions, and tweets from official accounts of Republican candidates and affiliated organizations.

2. Transcripts of video content, such as campaign ads and speeches disseminated on social media.

3. User interactions, such as comments and replies, to examine audience engagement.

These posts will be gathered from public profiles and official campaign pages in the six months leading up to the election. Sensitive or private information will not be included in the analysis.

For data analysis, I will use software like AntConc to identify recurring keywords, collocations, and thematic patterns in Republican social media discourse. I will look for recurring themes such as fear, nationalism, patriotism, and divisive rhetoric to explore how these strategies might influence voter perceptions and behavior. I will also apply sentiment analysis tools such as VADER or TextBlob to assess the emotional tone of posts, identifying whether they employ positive, negative, or neutral sentiments to engage voters. Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) will also be used to explore how the Republican Party constructs power, ideology, and identity through its rhetoric.
