Introduction

In this assessment, you will reflect on your responses to the main scenario in Week 2. Reflecting on how you engage with a scenario is an important skill in cybersecurity: Each time you participate in a strategy session or an incident response, you make use of your existing knowledge and experience to make sense of the situation. You will need to constantly update your knowledge and your sensemaking skills, though, because technology and threat actors are constantly evolving. Purposefully practising reflection will help you build the skills to continue learning throughout your career.

By completing this assessment, you will develop and demonstrate your ability to:

Discuss and critically reflect on how cybersecurity protects information and knowledge in the context of organisations

Discuss and critically reflect on how cybersecurity addresses a range of threats both purposive and incidental, spanning people, process, technology, andl information.

Instructions

1. On Sunday afternoon of the second teaching week, you will be asked to pause and reflect.

2. Begin by privately writing dot-point notes in response to the following questions. These are just your notes, so full sentences are not required:

What was your initial response to the case?

What was valuable about your initial response? You may refer to other cases or specific theories to support your answer.

What could be improved? You may refer to other cases or specific theories to support your answer.

What would you change if confronted with a similar scenario in future?

3. In pairs, share your reflection with a peer. Give each person 5-7 minutes to talk through their responses. Feel free to ask each other clarification questions.

4. Before leaving the session, you will have time to begin writing your reflection. Structure your reflection around the simple framework of What? So what? Now what?

5. Complete and submit your written reflection by the due date above.
