NOTES ON REFERENCING
APA referencing style must be used throughout the business case/report to correctly acknowledge all sources in the body of your report with a matching entry in the reference list. Show all quotes and in-text citations correctly, especially if you are quoting from websites, which students often neglect. The reference list must be formatted properly in accordance with APA referencing style guide and be in alphabetical order.
Task
You will construct TWO (2) pages, timeline infographic that highlights the major developments in journalism from its earliest forms to the digital age. This project will help you understand how journalism has evolved in response to technology, society, politics and culture.
Research Key Milestones
Investigate the evolution of journalism and select at least 10-15 major events or turning points.
Consider:
• The invention of the printing press (1440)
• Publication of the first newspapers
• Growth of penny press and yellow journalism
• Introduction of radio and TV broadcasting
• Impact of World Wars on journalism
• Landmark cases like Watergate
• The rise of digital media, social media, and citizen journalism
Design a Timeline Infographic:
Use a digital tool like Canva, Piktochart, Venngage, Adobe Express or Google Slides to create your infographic. Your timeline should be chronologically ordered, visually engaging and easy to follow. Include the Following in Your Infographic:
• Dates of each event
• Titles/Headings for each milestone
• Brief descriptions (2-3 sentences per event)
• Icons, visuals or images to enhance the presentation
• A clear timeline structure (horizontal, vertical or zig-zag is fine!)
