Description of Assessment Task and Purpose:
The assessment of this module has two components, i.e., Coursework (weighted 40%) and Examination (weighted 60%). This document provides questions and requirements for the coursework. The coursework for this module consists of an individual assignment.
The aim of this coursework is to apply the econometric approaches on survey data, instead of in- depth discussion on theories. The answers are expected to include the estimation result tables whenever regression is undertaken. Students are expected to submit their Stata .do files for this coursework.
In this coursework, you will investigate empirically the business environment and economic performance of firms by using firm-level dataset from one of the countries included in the World Bank Enterprise Survey Data. The Enterprise Surveys collect information about a country's business environment, how it is experienced by individual firms, how it changes over time, and about the various constraints to firm performance and growth. The full data sets are available to researchers and include all questions from the surveys at the firm level.
The coursework for this module consists of an individual assignment. The required word count is 1,000 words in total excluding tables, graphs, and appendices. Answer ALL Questions.
Note that this is not an essay type assignment. Please simply answer the questions one by one.
Learning Outcomes Assessed:
LO1 Critically evaluate major applications of contemporary econometric methods in the current literature.
LO2 Critically assess the implications and limitation of econometric models in the cross-sectional and panel data literature.
LO3 Collect collate and transform cross sectional and panel data for sophisticated econometric analysis
LO4 Implement and interpret critically the outputs from econometric software packages
Knowledge & Skills Assessed:
• Apply probability and statistical theories to solve complex economics issues.
• Collect and transform economic data for empirical analysis
• Performance econometric analysis by using statistical/econometrical software: e.g. STATA
• Understand empirical analyses results.
• Interpret and discuss estimation results.

Referencing: Your work must be fully compliant with Harvard protocols. Your assessment should include appropriate references to a variety of necessary literature sources and a wide-ranging bibliography of academic aspects of economics. Font/ Size: Arial 11 or Times New Roman 11. Spacing / Sides: 1.0 / Single sided / single line spacing between two paragraphs.
