1) Group Project

Students please form groups of no more than 2 people per group to edit a video with the correct colour grading. Groups can choose either option 1 or option 2 and do NOT need to complete both tasks. Students are required to experiment with different colour and editing process treatments in order to enhance the creative and artistic value that can dramatically change the mood of the video. Students will be assessed by their ability to apply professional techniques as well as personal styles in the use of colouring grading, colour correction, editing, white balance, de-noise and other visual elements.

Things To Consider In Your Project:

1. Balance Image Colour

2. Adjust colour, Temperature, Midtone Detail by using either primary bars or log grading

3. Adjust Contrast and Color with Curves

4. Target Object Using Power Windows (Track and Follow Objects) for colouring moving objects.

5. Establish Multiple Nodes for correction

6. Use Scopes to measure and evaluate colour in an image.

The PPT should include:

- Full name, the course title, student number(s) on the first page

- Job distribution, production schedule, difficulties faced during post-production, picture references and colour used

- Evaluation

- Please save the PPT into PDF format before submitting it to OLE

The Trailer Should Contain:

- Full name, the course title, student number on the beginning of the trailer before it starts

- The video format must be 1080p in MP4

- Please upload the clip on both YouTube (unlisted NOT private) and google drive. Put the links into the PPT and reference all the effects used with time code.

- Without references cited will be counted as plagiarism.

Once you have the doc file with 2 links and references, please save as PDF and upload it onto OLE before the deadline. Late submissions will result in a daily deduction of 2 marks. Kindly notify the instructor in advance if a student is unable to complete their in-class exercise on time due to medical reasons. A doctor’s note is necessary. Students will have up to ten minutes in class to present and screen their short film. Groups of no more than 2 people should complete the project. The project can be prepared and presented in either English or Chinese. Please also make sure that all submissions must be submitted on OLE, email submissions will not be accepted. Should there be errors during the submission, please seek assistance from OLE at [email protected]. Please ensure that all links included in your project submissions are accessible and not set to private. Do not remove or privatize these links until four weeks after the semester ends to allow teachers sufficient time for marking and review. Any links that cannot be accessed will be treated as if the project was not submitted.
