Prerequisite and Preclusion: MAT 1320 or MAT 1330.  MAT 1322 or MAT 1325 or MAT 1332 is corequisite to MAT 2377 The courses MAT 2377, MAT 1371, MAT 1372, MAT 2371, MAT 2375, MAT 2378, MAT 2379, ADM 2303, ECO 3150, HSS 2381, PSY 2106 cannot be combined for credits.

Official Description of the Course: A concise survey of:  combinatorial analysis; prob- ability and random variables; discrete and continuous densities and distribution functions; expectation and variance; normal (Gaussian), binomial and Poisson distributions; statistical estimation and hypothesis testing; method of least squares, correlation and regression.  The emphasis is on statistics and quality control methods for engineers.

Evaluation and grading: The inal grade is calculated as follows:

.  If the grade on the inal exam is less than 40%, the grade on inal exam will be the course grade

.  If the grade on the inal exam is more than 40%, then the inal grade is calculated as follows:

.  The weight of a midterm can be transferred to the inal exam if it results in a higher grade.  In particular, a missed midterm will automatically be transferred to the inal exam. This policy will be implemented when calculating your inal grade and you don’t need to send a request.

.  Weights of the assignments cannot be transferred to the inal exam.

Notes for Assignments :

.  There will be 4 assignment with due dates of Jan.  21, Feb. 11, Mar. 10 and Mar. 31 each 5% of the inal grade.

.  The assignments will be posted on Brightspace at least one week before the due dates. Solutions can be either typed or hand-written.  Solutions must be submitted through Brightspace by 11:59pm on the due dates.

.  Late assignments will not be accepted.

.  Students  are allowed (and encouraged) to discuss homework questions among them- selves. However, each student must write their own solutions. If two or more submis- sions are found too similar or identical, the students may be requested to explain their solutions in-person.  Failing to explain their solutions properly may result in penalty or zero mark on the assignment.

.  If a student cannot complete an assignment due to extraneous circumstances (such as illness), they must notify the instructor prior to the due date and submit the declaration form. If the  request  is approved then the weight of the missed assignment can be transferred to the other assignments.

Notes for Midterm/Final Exam :

.  The Midterm will be held in class on February 15, 2024.

.  There will be no make-up test: if you are unable to write the test and you have valid supporting documentation , eg., doctor note, then your inal exam mark will count as your midterm mark.

.  If you are unable to write the inal exam, then the policies of the Faculty will apply.

.  Students may not enter after 20 minutes from the beginning of a midterm.  Students must present their student cards at all exams.

Bilingualism.

Except in programs and courses for which language is a requirement, all students have the right to produce their written work and to answer examination questions in the official lan- guage of their choice, regardless of the course’s language of instruction.
