Overview

This is a GROUP assessment and weighs 30% of the totaI moduIe mark.

The final document is due for submission before 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 20th, and upIoadedto LMO.

This project will put you in a hypothetical situation entering a media business pitch

competition. You will be asked to collaborate with other students (no more than 4) to

develop a media business idea for Chinese audiences into a full-fledged pitch

presentation. This project allows students to explore a creative idea in response to their own interests, as well as to the pressing issues of cultural and creative industries.

All students must participate in the competition and pitch their media business ideas  as a team to the class. The presentation will be delivered in a recorded video format. Students are encouraged to bring in creative elements to illustrate their ideas.

Uploaded presentations will be open to the entire class after the due date. Each presentation will be 10 minutes maximum and under 100MB. lt must follow the   following structure:

因   Business name

因   Presentation outline

lllustration of idea development from early-stage ideation to business planning   Research on the target audience and the situated industry

  Details of the monetization approach

Conclusion that summarizes the business highlights

Preparation

Before you even begin looking for research sources, you need to find an original idea to explore. The idea could be a specific media text, product, service, organization, or

even platform! The best way to do this is by brainstorming either on your own or with other team members or by teaching content you found inspiring in class. This will

give you a sense of the similar business that exists now. lt is especially important to identify interesting yet undiscovered information and approaches related to your

idea, which may enhance your idea development and render your presentation

captivating. You may refer to the TV show Shark Tank as an example while working on the presentation. Should you draw on ideas published on crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter and lndiegogo, please cite the sources properly in your presentation.
