This is Assessment Task 1 of 4 that you need to be complete. All assessments need to be completed satisfactorily to be assessed competent for this unit.

Completing this task will allow you to demonstrate your ability to design and produce a document using graphics elements, including grouping and design principles. You will demonstrate their knowledge of general computer usage for an ergonomic workstation, breaks and exercises, and conservation procedures for an office.

Assessment instructions

What

You are required to read the scenario of the assessment and carefully follow the assessment instructions.

Scenario: Stingray Corporation needs to update their staff about the information for an ergonomic workstation, breaks and exercises, conservation procedures for an office, tips for word processing, and a reminder of the need to use the company’s Style Guide in their monthly flyer. The business also needs to modernise their company logo to use on their documents and marketing material. The manager has asked students to use their skills to create an attractive and readable staff flyer and an attractive, but simple logo. To set an example, students must demonstrate their knowledge of an organised work environment in front of their manager.

1. Create a new document

2. Use Shapes and WordArt create a logo with a slogan similar, but according to organisational and task requirements. The logo should be made up entirely of Shapes and WordArt and grouped as one graphic.

3. Save the Logo document as

Surname_FirstName_StudentNumber_ComplexDocuments_AssessmentTask_1_Logo.docx. This document is not required to be uploaded in Canvas for the assessment.

Step 3 – Flyer

1. Create a new document

2. Submit the answers to the questions in a word-processed document and produce and style a heading for each question, retype the questions and format these in bold, and put the answers below each question in a justified paragraph. There is no word count specified but answers must adequately cover each topic. Pictures are not required. Font type, font size, spacing, and colors are not specified

3. Students must discuss and present the following topics, using the information found on Canvas for

3.1. An ergonomic workstation for a computer operator should be adjustable. Describe four (4) adjustments that can be made to make the workstation properly comfortable for the operator.

3.2. Workers should have breaks from their work. Specify how long breaks should be and why.

3.3. Exercises help workers to manage fatigue. List two (2) exercises that can be done in a rest break and three (3) preventive exercises that an operator can include in their work routine and why these exercises are helpful.

3.4. Conservation is a business priority to reduce costs. Describe what workers can do to reduce paper wastage when producing documents by listing three (3) measures to limit wastage and the benefits to the business.

3.5. Safe work practices are needed in the office. Analyse two (2) safe work practices that are relevant to the office workplace and explain why these are important.

3.6. Staff are given word processing tips in this monthly flyer. Provide a brief description of the complex function, followed by a step-by-step procedure using the Microsoft Help function and online help for: (a) References (footnotes/endnotes), (b) Table of Contents, (c) and Section breaks. Include relevant images to assist staff in understanding the procedures.

3.7. Staff need to be reminded to use the company’s Style Guide. Provide a brief description of what a Style Guide is, followed by a clear list of the style guides requirements for: font type, font size, font colour, spacing, colours, and forms. Include relevant images to assist staff in understanding the procedures.

4. Students must include their Surname, First Name, Student Number and Assessment Task Name, and Page Numbers on each page in the Footer. The Page Numbers should be on the left of the Footer and the other details on the right.

5. Insert the new logo produced in Step 1 (above) in the Header on the right.

6. Save the Flyer as

You will be provided class time to work on this assessment, however, it is expected that some tasks will be completed outside of class time.

How

You will be assessed against the criteria listed in the Marking Guide in Section B of this task (and the Canvas Rubric). To achieve a satisfactory result, students will need to address all criteria satisfactorily.

You must:

Conditions for assessment

In class procedure:

• You are to confirm that you understand the assessment and ask any clarifying questions of the assessor before beginning the assessment. You are required to get information, feedback, and ideas from the assessor.

Submission procedure:

• You must submit all documents listed in the instructions and Marking Criteria.

• You are to submit this assessment on Canvas (and not via other means without prior permission from their assessor).

Assessor procedure. The assessor will:

• Assess the documents that the students provide.

• Contact you if any information is missing, and you will have 24 hours to provide the missing documentation for assessment.

• All documents must meet the criteria to the standard described in the Marking Guide in Section B to be deemed satisfactory in this assessment.

Resubmission procedure:

• You will have the opportunity to resubmit any assessment tools that are deemed Not Yet Satisfactory (one resubmission is allowed per course).

• The assessor will provide feedback regarding what students need to do to improve and will set a new deadline for the resubmission. You must resubmit by this due date and time.

Assessment adjustment:

• In certain circumstances, you may be eligible for an assessment adjustment (e.g. a disability or long-term medical or mental health condition; an unavoidable employment, family, cultural, religious or elite sporting commitment known in advance; other unexpected circumstance outside the your control).

• You must make prior arrangements with the instructor at least one week prior to the assessment due date if they require special allowance, allowable adjustment to this task or extension of time.

• You can appeal the assessment decision according to the RMIT Assessment Processes.
