Introduction
WordPress is a popular content management system (CMS) that enables users to create and manage websites easily without requiring extensive technical knowledge. It is a versatile platform that can be customized to suit various needs, from personal blogs to e-commerce stores.
In recent years, WordPress has introduced a new editing experience called the Gutenberg block editor. The block editor replaces the previous classic editor, providing a more streamlined and intuitive way to build
web pages. With Gutenberg, content is organized into discrete blocks, such as paragraphs, images, or
headings, which can be easily arranged and customized. The block editor simplifies the process of creating and editing content, making it accessible to users of all skill levels.
Full Site Editing (FSE) is a recent addition to the WordPress ecosystem that expands upon the Gutenberg block editor's capabilities. With FSE, users can design and customize every aspect of their website using blocks, including headers, footers, sidebars, and other template parts. This provides a more cohesive and consistent editing experience across the entire site, allowing users to make global changes to design
elements or create entirely custom layouts without the need for additional plugins or coding skills.
Objective
The main objective of this assignment is to learn Full Site Editing using the Gutenberg block editor in
WordPress by recreating one of the following websites and exporting the site as a WordPress block theme. Students are expected to optimize the site's performance and deploy it on a live server.

Tasks
1. Clone one of the listed websites using the Gutenberg block editor in WordPress.
2. Export the cloned site as a WordPress block theme.
3. Optimize the site's performance to match or surpass the original site.
4. Deploy the cloned site on an InfinityFree account.
5. Measure and compare site performance using Google's [PageSpeed Insights]
Deliverables

Grading Criteria
1. Accuracy of Cloning (40%): The cloned site should closely resemble the original site in terms of design, layout, and overall appearance.
2. Comparative Performance Discussions (15%): The discussions should be well-organized, insightful, and provide a clear comparison of the original and cloned site's performance.
3. Site Responsiveness (15%): The cloned site should be responsive and function well on various
devices and screen sizes, ensuring a consistent user experience across desktop, tablet, and mobile platforms.
4. Accessibility and User Experience (15%): The cloned site should adhere to best practices in web accessibility, enabling users with disabilities to navigate and interact with the site effectively.
Additionally, the site should provide a smooth and engaging user experience, with easy-to-use navigation and intuitive layout.
5. Suggestions for Improvement (15%): Provide well-reasoned suggestions for improving the cloned site, including design, functionality, and performance.
Due Date and Submission
The assignment is due 23¸59 Friday 26th May 2022.
All the following deliverables are to be submitted via the link on the unit's BlackBoard site.
1. The link to the live site.
2. WPVivid backup of the final development version.
3. Zip file of the WOrdPress block theme
4. Comprehensive report in PDF format.
Late submissions will be subject to a penalty of 10% per day, up to a maximum of 7 days. Assignments submitted later than 7 days will receive a zero grade.
