MCH3012 – Fashion, Communication & Culture

2022/2023 ASSESSMENT RESIT TASK – REVISED PORTFOLIO.

Students must submit a new portfolio of work in line with the assessment brief outlined for the original portfolio in the module handbook:

Fashion Communication Portfolio, assessment: - A creative portfolio that incorporates 2 x components from the following PLUS a Reflective Journal outlined below:

· Fashion advertising campaign (1-3 of your own original images plus 750-1000 words strategy outline)

· Fashion editorial (6-8 images) or Fashion Blog Piece for social media (i.e. Instagram) (6-8 images)

· Fashion journalism piece: Runway Report (250-500 words plus 3-5 images from runway)

· Fashion journalism Piece: Style Feature/trend report (500-750 words plus some ‘styled’ looks/item images)

· Fashion Journalism Piece: Full length Feature (750 -1000 words, maybe 1-2 images copied/pasted or taken yourself but not necessary)

· Fashion event plan and accompanying PR press release (1000-1500 words)

All components are equivalent to 1000 words of summative ‘output’ although aspects such as the editorial/blog piece may not include any written elements (or also include varying scales of written elements: 250, 500, 750, 1000, 1500 words).

Plus

Reflective journal (equivalent of 1000 words of output) illustrating the process of creating the portfolio outputs. This can include rough work, inspiration/mood boards, annotations/lists. There should be a clear sense of strategy and process communicated. A couple of paragraphs is not sufficient. The journal should be a combination of visual and textual elements to help illustrate/communicate creative process and critical evaluation of work in a detailed manner.

Word limit: equivalent of 3000 words (+/-5%)

The portfolio can contain the same elements as the original submission (e.g. could still be journalism, editorial, advertising etc.) but must consist of improvements on the basis of feedback. You can retain any successful components and include any new components (e.g. retain one journalism piece and submit a new components and new reflective journal); or can include entirely new content compared to what was previously submitted (e.g. you can do another fashion runway report but must choose a different designer or this can be same designer but different collection; you could use the same idea for an editorial but must use different styling/items/combinations of photographs etc.).

The reflective journal must be appropriately adapted depending upon feedback received following the original submission and the content of the new ‘pieces’.

You can submit your work in 1-3 x single/separate files and in one or more appropriate file formats (e.g. Word, Powerpoint, pdf etc.). Please check the size of files prior to submission to ensure they do not exceed the file size capacity of Canvas (divide your work into 1 file per component if required). Submit all work using the same resit link on Canvas. Please ensure that all content is clearly marked and presented in the corresponding sections/files.
