ACCT5919 – Group Video Presentation
Due 5 pm 3rd August 2023
The Task
Your group are members of the Risk Management Department of a company, and the Chief Risk Officer has asked that you make a group presentation to the Board Risk Committee on how your company has been managing the highest risks on the company’s risk register. As the Committee is meeting overseas in a different timezone, you will not be attending the
meeting in person, so you need to record your presentation so it can be played to the
Committee. The presentation should be approximately 30 minutes in total, and the Board Committee has requested that a slide pack with speaking notes be provided.
Choose one of the following or another company of your choice* as your company: • BHP
• Rio Tinto
• Qantas
• Cochlear
• ResMed
• Macquarie Group
* If you choose another company not listed above, you must receive prior approval from your lecturer based on an email outlining which company you are choosing and why. The email
must be submitted no later than 14th July 2023 for consideration. You do not need to
submit a proposal if you choose one of the companies listed above. Simply submit your pre- recorded video presentation by the due date.
For your chosen company:
• Research the nature of the following risks for your company, identify the risk
management issues (causes/sources), analyse how they have impacted your company and identify what actions and treatments have been taken to date:
o Climate Change
o Cyber Security
o Geopolitical Factors
o Another key risk based on your research
• As a group:
o assess the actions taken to date
o identify future actions (additional actions or changes to current risk management responses) that should betaken to address the ongoing actual and potential
impacts of the risks for at least the next twelve months. This can include changes to the operating model, governance or strategy of the company as well as specific risk treatments and controls.
Presentation
Overall, the presentation should be approximately 30 minutes, with each group member presenting for between 5 and 6 minutes approximately as follows:
1. Presenter 1: Brief introduction and analyse climate change issues and actions to date 2. Presenter 2: Analyse Cyber Security issues and actions to date
3. Presenter 3: Analyse Geopolitical factors issues and actions to date
4. Presenter 4: Analyse another key risk (selected based on your research) issues and actions to date
5. Presenter 5: For each of the risks - assess the success of actions to date and outline recommendations for additional or changed future actions.
As the presentation is to the Board of the company there is no need to provide background on the Company itself.
(If your group has 6 members select an additional risk and the overall presentation length can be extended by 5 minutes.)
Grading
Your grade will be based on the presentation and the slide pack and consist of:
Group mark: 15 marks
Overall presentation consistency and length, flow between speakers, depth of research.
Individual mark: 25 marks
Individual presentation quality, both in terms of individual presentation style and presentation slide quality (and speaking notes) and specific content presented.
Total marks: 40 marks
General
You have been allocated to a group - please see the groups list on Moodle. Please make your own arrangements as a group as to how and when you will prepare for the presentation and
record it.
Your analysis must apply the concepts from the course.
You should draw on primary sources such as company and regulator reports wherever
possible, and then secondary sources such as press and other reports or published articles by third parties and experts commenting on or analysing the risk management issues.
Your pre-recorded video should be submitted by 5.00 pm on Thursday 3rd August 2023, via Turnitin. In addition, you must also submit via Turnitin (separate link) a PowerPoint slide
pack: 2 to 3 slides per presenter which should include your speaking notes. You also need to include a separate slide with research source references.
Note: You should use the Zoom platform or equivalent to record the presentation. You must have your webcam on when pre-recording your group video presentation. You can blur the background.
