1.  BFC3341 final exam. eExam information

BFC3341 final exam (end of semester assessment) duration will be 2 hours and 10 minutes, according to the exam timetable. Students should follow the time limit in the exam and ask a question if you are unsure.

All exams in the Department of Banking and Finance will be delivered via Monash’s eAssessment platform, either on-campus  or  off-campus. Please check your units exam timetable for information regarding whether your eExam is on-campus or off-campus. You are required to undertake the exam using your own device. Please note: Chromebooks, tablets and  mobile phones can’t be used to sit eExams.  You can view your scheduled assessments in your

How does an eExam work?

Your final assessment timetable will be available in Allocate+ from Monday 24 April 2023. It will tell you if you have an on-campus or off-campus eExam and whether or not the exam will be supervised. You should check your timetable just before exam day to make sure there hasn’t been any last-minute change to your assessment details. If you have any issues relating to on-campus or off-campus exams please direct your queries to Monash Connect.

How do I access the eExam in BFC3341?

At the scheduled date/time of your exam, you will be able to access a link to the eExam from theeAssessment platform.

Please note that you will not be able to see your eExam in the platform until two business days before your scheduled exam. You will not be able to access your eExam until the scheduled time of your exam.

What type of eExam is BFC3341?

Your eExam is a standard eExam. A standard eExam requires all answers to be provided in the eAssessment platform within the exam duration, i.e., within 2 hours and 10 minutes.

How do I answer the exam questions?

You need to type in your answers in the text and math expressions. For math expression, here is an example.  present value =(coupon1)/(1+r)^1+…+(Par+coupon19)/(1+r)^19. You can program the calculation formula in Excel. However, you must copy the programmed forms to eAssessment platform if you want partial credits. You cannot  attach Excel files.

2.  Is the BFC3341 final exam open/closed book?

It is a closed book exam, although you could bring one-page A4 size notes of your choice and one-page only. You are not permitted to use any other notes, textbooks, websites, or other reference material to assist you in answering the questions.

3.  What calculator am I permitted to take to BFC3341 final examination?

Only  HP  10bII+  or  Casio  FX82  (any  suffix)  calculator  is  permitted.  This  is  to  ensure consistency and avoid any confusion, as the problems and examples used in this unit during lectures and tutorials have relied on the use of the HP10bII+. Same as for tutorial questions, you can use Microsoft Excel to solve calculation questions. If you  cannot access one of the approved        models,        then         you        are         allowed        to         use        the         HP10b11+ emulator https://www.educalc.net/2336211.page

4.  What is the weighting of the exam? Is there a hurdle requirement for BFC3341?

The total mark of the final exam is 60 and account for 60% of the unit total mark. There is a hurdle requirement in this unit. There is a requirement that the student must attain a mark of at least 45% in this final summative assessment task.

5.  What can I write down on the one-page notes for BFC3341 final exam?

You can write down any notes or formula of your choice.

6.  What if I am sick on the day of the final examination?

Students enrolled at an Australian campus must use the online system (refer to link below) that appear in your exam timetable in WES. You must NOT contact the Chief Examiner to apply for special consideration. Any applications received will be sent to the CE after applications have been lodged online using the link below.

7.  What is the structure of the BFC3341 final examination?

The BFC3341 exam includes short essay questions. In general, there are no more than  10 questions. The questions aim to test students on both theory and calculations. Students must attempt to answer ALL questions.

8.  How many decimal points should I round my answers to?

Unless a question specifically asks you to round (for example, to two decimal places) then it does not matter. You are strongly advised however to leave the rounding to your final answer, and not to round your inputs during the workings of the problem.

9.  Will I have to show my workings for calculation questions?

Yes, some questions may require you to write correct the formula in order to solve that particular problem. The correct formula with the correct number plugged in will be marked for partial credit.

10.What do I need to study?

The final exam covers unit learning package in the prescribed textbook chapter 4, chapter 5, chapter 6, and chapter 7.

Past Exam test papers are provided, but do NOT expect past exam paper questions to be reused.

11.Important-Academic Integrity

12. Release of Results

Results will be published by Education System. It is BaF Department guideline that there should be no communication between students and academic teaching and research staff about exam performance after the scheduled exam date and time until results are released. It is important to abide by this policy so the integrity of the exam process is not impacted.
