Resources Available:
Course textbook; Academic peer-reviewed articles; Further recommended resources, as per the Course Description.
Tasks, Organization and Grading:
For the research project on the topic “The impact of work stress on employee
performance in the hospitality industry”:
1. DESIGN RESEARCH TITLE, AIM AND OBJECTIVES (approx. 100 words)
Student should summarize their research title, aim and objectives in the following table:
2. PREPARE ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY (word count would depend on the
comprehensiveness of the summary of particular articles.
Student should prepare the annotated bibliography for the articles reviewed for the topic “The impact of work stress on employee performance in the hospitality industry”. 5 peer-
reviewed, the most recent (the last 10 years) academic articles need to be used, with in-text citations presented in line with the APA 7th edition requirements. For the annotated
bibliography, the template as introduced and discussed in the course needs to be used (see on Moodle). All articles used for the Annotated Bibliography must be submitted in the Resit Project Portfolio.
3. PREPARE METHODOLOGY SUMMARY (approx. 200 words)
First, using in-text references to the course textbook or any other academic sources, student should explain the quantitative research method that can be applied for the study of
“The impact of work stress on employee performance in the hospitality industry”. Then, student should describe the potential population of this study and should also identify and
explain what sampling method(s) can be used in this research (include in your analysis the aspect of the sampling frame).
4. DESIGN DATA COLLECTING TECHNIQUE (approx. 300 words)
Student should design the following three types of questions/statements which could be used in the questionnaire for the study of “The impact of COVID-19 on hospitality”, and provide the
required information and details:
Question 1: FILTER QUESTION
→ Explain the purpose and usefulness of the designed filter question.
Question 2: LIKERT-SCALE QUESTION/STATEMENT
→ Explain how this Likert-scale question/statement is linked to specific objective (1, 2 or 3), as you designed in Task 1.
→ An even- or odd-numbered Likert-scale can be used. Explain the differences between even and odd numbered scales and justify the type of scale you
selected for your Likert-scale question/statement.
→ Explain what statistical method(s) can be used to analyze the variable collected via the Likert-scale question/statement you designed.
Question 3: RANKING QUESTION
→ Explain how this ranking question is linked to specific objective (1, 2 or 3), as you designed in Task 1.
→ Explain what statistical method(s) can be used to analyze the variable collected via the ranking question you designed.
5. DISCUSS RESEARCH LIMITATIONS (approx. 100 words)
Student should reflect on any possible research limitations for the study of “The impact of work stress on employee performance in the hospitality industry”, for example limitations
regarding the research method, sampling procedure, the time and resource constraints, etc.
The discussion of limitations must be supported by the valid academic sources, for example in- text references to articles summarized in the Annotated Bibliography (see Task 2) or to sources used in the Methodology Summary section (see Task 3).
6. PREPARE THE LIST WITH REFERENCES
The list with references should be provided at the end of the project. All references must be presented in accordance with the APA 7th edition requirements.
All articles summarized in the Annotated Bibliography section (Task 2) and sources used in the Methodology Summary section (Task 3) and Research Limitations section (Task 5) need to be presented in the list with References.
7. PREPARE THE RESIT PROJECT PORTFOLIO
All articles summarized in the Annotated Bibliography section (Task 2) and any peer-reviewed articles used in the Methodology Summary section (Task 3) and Research Limitations section (Task 5) must be submitted in the Portfolio. Create a zip folder with all the articles and submit it to the link for the Portfolio in Moodle.
No submission of the Portfolio will result in the Resit Project grade of 0.
