STAB23 Fall 2022: COVID-19 Project

Due Saturday, July 16th, 2023 at 11:59PM EST

In groups of 3-5, you will use Excel (or R Studio) to analyze the survey data. A basic R script will be presented to the class for students to modify in a way that is relevant to their own questions.

We have partitioned the questions into different themes.  For you report you should not focus on all of them.  Choose a particular topic that you are inter- ested in and direct your research question towards addressing a handful of the questions contained within the themes.  For example in the Fall 2020 semester, within education, some students were interested in determining whether there is an  association  between feeling  that  the  school year was  negatively  impacted  by COVID,  and feeling  that  it  is  harder to  stay  organized  during  the  school year (two  questions found in  their version  of the  survey  questions) .   You  may  do  a statistical analysis pertaining to this .

Your report should be between 5-7 pages of writing (this will not include figures or tables you may have).  Please make sure this is double spaced.  It should contain the following:

❼ Introduction:  Introduce the question you wish to address, and the back-

ground context.

❼ Methods section:  This is the statistical analysis.  It should contain both

descriptive and inferential statistics.   Make sure you mention how you acquired the data (i.e. survey sampling), as well as the sampling size.

❼ Results:  A section that presents your main ndings, and includes your

figures/tables. Include data visualization, tables and inference in the reults section. The sample report contains these sections outside of the results which you need not do.

❼ Discussion/conclusions: A section which should contain limitations, over-

all themes pertaining to your ndings, and next questions that can be asked (and the statistical analysis that should precede it).

❼ Include a reference section. Use APA format throughout the report.

Before you submit the nal report, you will submit a draft of your report on Quercus.  A member of the teaching team will provide you with feedback re- garding your initial report.

Note: If a sequence of actions presents as the following:

Do you agree with option A? (Yes/No)

❼ If yes answer the following, etc.

Then you may not see student responses if they answered no.” This means a blank response to subsequent question should be logical, and is not missing data.
