COURSE OVERVIEW |
|||
This unit provides an introduction to modeling financial time series and evaluating the forecasting performance of a model. Topics include: R programming; the characteristics of financial time series; ARMA models; forecasting and cross-validation, unit-root processes; modelling and forecasting conditional volatility, via ARCH and GARCH; the Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM); financial return factor models; principal component analysis and staistical factor models; factor selection via machine learning; multivariate time series analysis and the cointegration. |

Mastery of techniques taught in class demonstrated through the completion of hands-on assignments and examinations . You will finish the course equipped with workman's familiarity with financial time series models, facility with data handling, and R programming. |
