Design the ‘indirect’ and ‘direct’ self-tuning GMVC for a chemical process described by the following transfer function:

where TD  is the time delay of the process and t is the time constant. Assume that the value of 

i)   Detail out the design process for both controllers. You can approximate the time delay term  using any suitable approximation to obtain its continuous-time transfer function before starting to design your controllers.

ii)  Compare  the  performance  of the  two  controllers via computer simulation (with any suitable computer software).   You can use any suitable reference signals to show the effectiveness of your controllers.
