DATA INTEGRATION AND VISUALISATION (CS3DV20)
1. Business intelligence solutions consist of several elements that are looking to transform the raw data from different data sources into insights that allow institutions to support the decision-making process mainly via dashboards.
Describe and discuss the elements and processes involved in these kinds of solutions, considering as a scenario a data analytics project on lecturers’ performance (e.g., analyse their overall performance related with teaching, monitoring, mentoring, and supervising final year projects) in the Computer Science Department between 2017 and 2021. The HR database (lecturer profile such as position, personal data, line manager and line manager evaluations), the Blackboard database (information regarding lecture material and online sessions) and RISIS database (information of interaction with tutees and module feedback surveys results), as the three sources of data, are identified as input to the process.
The solution should consider:
(a) At least two examples of data extraction and transformation/data cleansing.
(b) Data integration.
(c) Different stages and data environments.
(d) At least one data schema.
(e) A dashboard mock-up considering three elements.
