•  The final assessment in the unit is an OPEN BOOK Proctored online exam using Proctorio.

•   Use of on-screen calculator is ALLOWED (available in the quiz)

•  You must complete the exam individually.

•  The exam consists of FIVE (5) questions. Each question may have multiple parts. You must complete all parts of all questions.

•  The dataset to be used for Question 5 has been made available 24 hours in advance under the examination folder.

•  This is a 2-hour exam. You will have 2 hours 30 minutes to complete and submit your exam. The extra 30 minutes is for reading time (15 minutes) and technical time (covers any minor technical issues you may experience during the exam process, 15 minutes).

Fraud headline: Bank employee charged with stealing $3.5 million after 'high value transfer' discovered

Major Fraud Squad detectives have charged a 37-year-old Perth bank employee with stealing $3.5 million. The Belmont bank recently identified a high-value transfer, and following an audit a number of discrepancies were identified, police said. It is alleged the money was stolen while the man was employed by the bank between June 2016 and February 2018. The Mount Lawley man has been charged with one count of stealing as a servant and was set to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today. On investigation other information came to light:

The 37 year-old joined the bank in 2016 with an excellent resume in the banking and investment sector in the Northern Territory. He was always complaining about the high cost of living in Perth compared to the NT. He was well groomed, had an extravagant life style and had recently bought an expensive mansion in Mount Lawley.

QUESTION 3 [This Question Has Only Part a: 8 Marks]

The Metro Trains provides rides on diesel and steam trains throughout the state. It owns 32 engines, each with a unique serial number consisting of 6 digits. Printed below are data for trips on September 10. Each trip lasts a minimum of 1.5 hours.

•   Table notes: Valid train codes (engine type column): D = Diesel, S = Steam

The  above  table  has  five  data  fields:  (1)  Serial  Number,  (2) Trip  Date,  (3)  Engine Type,  (4) Departure Time and (5) Return Time. A data analyst at Metro Trains identified errors in five of the six records in the data-table above. The errors are as follows:

1.   2nd row – Wrong date is used (09/01 instead of 09/10); also, return time is earlier than departure time (and thus, the duration is less than at least 1.5 hours)

2.   3rd  row – serial number has the letter o instead of a zero; engine type (E) is invalid.

3.   4th row – Wrong date is used (09/11 instead of 09/10).

4.   5th row – Engine Type (DD) is invalid.

5.   6th row – Duration of trip is less than 1.5 hours.
